Privacy Policy
Effective October 23, 2026
Overview
This policy explains what SmartUp collects, why, and the choices you have. We collect only what's needed to run the app, keep your progress, and improve lessons. We don't sell your personal information. To understand which of our ads bring people to SmartUp, we share limited app events with Meta, as described below.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and, if you share it, your name, from Sign in with Apple or email sign-up.
- Learning activity: lessons started and completed, quiz answers, XP, levels, streaks, saved lessons, and the interests, goals, and daily target you choose.
- Subscription status: whether your subscription is active, its plan, and renewal dates. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never see your card details.
- Usage analytics: in-app events such as screens viewed and lessons completed, with device and app version information, used to understand and improve the app.
- Notifications: if you turn on reminders, a push notification token for your device.
- Ad measurement: that the app was installed and opened, finished onboarding or created an account, and subscription events such as starting or renewing a plan, sent to Meta with an anonymous app ID. If you allow tracking when iOS asks, your device's advertising identifier is included.
How we use it
To provide your lessons and progress across devices, unlock your subscription, send reminders you've asked for, provide support, keep the service secure, improve SmartUp, and measure how well our ads work.
Service providers
We use trusted providers to run SmartUp. They process data on our behalf and only for these purposes:
- Supabase — account sign-in and database hosting.
- RevenueCat and Apple — subscription purchases and status.
- PostHog — product analytics.
- Railway — server hosting.
- Apple Push Notification service — reminders.
- Meta — measuring how well our ads on Facebook and Instagram work. Meta processes this under its own Data Policy.
Lesson content is prepared in advance and doesn't use your personal data.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account in Settings → Account & access → Delete account; this removes your account and learning progress from our systems. Deleting your account doesn't cancel an App Store subscription — cancel that in your Apple ID settings.
Ad measurement and tracking
We use Meta's tools to measure our own ads, not to show you ads inside SmartUp; there are none. iOS asks before SmartUp can use your advertising identifier, and you can change that answer anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. If you don't allow tracking, Meta receives only aggregated, privacy-preserving measurement data.
Your choices
You can turn reminders off in Settings or in iOS Settings, turn tracking off in iOS Settings, and request a copy or correction of your data by emailing us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, which we'll honor.
Children
SmartUp isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
We'll post any updates to this policy in the app and update the effective date. Material changes will be highlighted.
